Channel Islands Aviation Group ("CIAG", "we", "us") operates this website as a flight simulation community. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you sign up and what you choose to fill in, we may collect:

Account information — your email address and display name, whether you register directly or via "Login with Discord."
Discord information (if you use Discord login) — your Discord ID, username, and avatar, used to link your site account to your Discord account and keep your server roles in sync.
Flightsim profile details you choose to add — callsign, simulator platform, VATSIM/IVAO ID, home airport, SimBrief username, and NewSky pilot ID.
Content you upload — liveries, documents, images, and team bio text.
Basic usage data — which pages are viewed, tracked in a way that cannot identify you personally (see "Analytics" below).

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account and let you log in.
To display your profile, callsign, and uploaded content to other members where relevant.
To sync your Discord server roles with your site permissions.
To send you account-related emails (verification, password resets, notifications you've opted into).
To keep the community safe — moderation actions are logged against your account when necessary.

3. Analytics

We track basic page-view statistics to understand how the site is used. This does not use cookies for tracking and does not store your IP address — visits are distinguished using a one-way hash of your IP address, browser, and the current date, which changes every day and cannot be used to identify or track you beyond that single day.

4. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. It does not track you across other websites and is not used for advertising. We don't currently use any third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

5. Third-Party Services

Parts of the site connect to third-party services to provide certain features. Using these features means your information is also subject to that service's own privacy policy:

Discord — for login and community role syncing.
NewSky — for flight logging and the live map, if you link your pilot ID.
VATSIM / IVAO — if you provide your network ID on your profile.
NOAA Aviation Weather Center — for the live weather widget (no personal data is sent to this service).

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We don't share your data with third parties except where described above (to provide the features you use) or where required by law.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account at any time from your Portal profile — this sends a request to our admin team, who will process it in line with this policy.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure password storage, two-factor authentication (which you can enable on your account), and access controls on our admin systems. No online service can be 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

This site is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
